Finally Heading SOUTH!

We were missing travelling so we went out for a drive and found McGregor Point Provincial Park – this is a well treed park on Lake Huron that is open for camping all year. We’ll have to keep that in mind.

These two photos are of the McGregor Point Provincial Park where they have winter camping…not this year for us.

Meanwhile – we’ve packed and totally filled our apartment with stuff to go to the trailer.

I drove down and picked up the trailer and managed to get it into our parking lot. After many trips up and down the stairs the trailer was loaded and we were ready to head south.

Owen Sound Leaving

It Snowed!!!

We drove primarily down highway 21 along Lake Huron to Sarnia.

Sarnia casino parking

We had heard that the Casino offered overnight parking for RVs and that’s what we did. Sometimes I think it would be cheaper to pay for parking in an expensive RV park.

Missouri Rest stop Route 66

From there we went to the Toyota dealer in Sarnia to get someone to check on the slow leak in one of the tires on the truck that’s still under warranty but they couldn’t accommodate that until late in the day. How odd – we decided to take our chances and continue.

An uneventful crossing and away we headed. Not really sure how far we’d get or where we’d stay.

We made it to a Cracker Barrel in Bloomington Illinois – we’d read on Al Bossence of The Bayfield Bunch that Cracker Barrel allows overnight parking in their lot. We found the space level and the welcome at the Cracker Barrel just terrific. The food was good as was the service.

We woke up early and had breakfast at the Cracker Barrel – it was just too easy.

How far will we get? All the way to bottom of Missouri – Joplin. Yes another Cracker Barrel and a dinner and breakfast there too. I am starting to feel the weight gain.

An early morning and a drive all the way to Amarillo Texas!

The rest stops along this trip have been fabulous – this it the one in Texas on I 40 and one in Missouri with a Route 66 theme  a few paragraphs back- we’ve been on what used to be the path of the historic route.
