From Chutes Provincial Park we thought we might make one last stop…it didn’t happen. We went to a friend’s cottage to see if the trailer would fit in the driveway. The excitement of performing an U-Turn in a confined area and realizing that I’m finally learning how to pull a trailer was good.

It was a beautiful return to the home area and old friends again.

The trailer kept calling and we arranged to meet up with some friends at Cape Croker, near Wiarton. We met some interesting people and were there for quite a few nights. Some hiking and campfires.

We are looking for a house and thought that the Brockville area would be a good choice because of its rail connection to Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. Below is the new tourist attraction, which actually is Ontario’s first railway tunnel.

We drove down to Brockville and looked for a place to camp. There was a campground in Brockville, but they had closed in early September! About 20 minutes out we found one called Happy Green Acres.

I thought it was more expensive than it should have been for the time of year and they did not want to honour their brochure pricing telling us that was for next year…who am I to argue…

We found a cool roadside food stand and the food was wonderful. Sam and Harry’s Roadside Stand

We stayed for 3 nights, then we went to the 1000 Islands KOA where we found the bouncy thing

and a secluded spot in the back of the park.

We had a huge section all to ourselves.  We continued to look at houses in the area.

We drove back to Toronto and stayed at the Glen Rouge Campground while we attended to medical appointments in town.

A nice place to stay while visiting town. We’d met some people at Lake Superior whose screen tent we liked, so we bought one.

We met up with some friends for a night out.

Then some family came to visit.

A friend had told us about the Canada 150 show in Ottawa and we decided to drive up. We weren’t really in a mood to go home yet!

We drove to a friend’s house in Carleton Place near Ottawa for the night and went out for dinner. We discovered that we liked Carleton Place and talked about looking at houses there.

In the morning we drove around looking at neighbourhoods then headed towards home. It was difficult finding a place to camp and we ended up staying at Casino Rama   

Home time we thought, but as we approached Craigleith Provincial Park – hmm why don’t we stop here?

A week was just right.

We did some wonderful hiking.

We drove into Owen Sound to be part of the Chi-Cheemaun’s repositioning lunch cruise, met up with friends then headed back to Craigleith.

We had to get a new campsite at Craigleith as the nice one we had by the bay was reserved.

We drove up to see the colours near Gravenhurst and stayed at our friends cottage.

Back to Carleton Place to look at a few houses and parked on the cul-de-sac by our friends’ house.

It’s a pretty town on the Mississippi River – a tributary of the Ottawa river.

We drove back after looking and not finding anything that we both loved. Once again we stayed at the casino as it was easy. The trailer is now parked. We’ve toured around the Owen Sound are a little…but we’re getting itchy.
